This extraordinary book is a combination of autobiography and the remarkable photographic work of its author. It is a both a revelation of the author's life and a major retrospective of his work as an artist.
Will McBride (1931-2015) was an American photographer, painter and sculptor. From 1953 to 1955 he went in Germany in the American Army, and remained living and working in Germany for the rest of his life. He published and exhibited widely throughout Europe. His photographs were frequently featured in the German youth magazine Twen in the 1960s. The evocative and sometimes arresting images in this book range across current events, political figures, social life and community in Germany in the '60s and '70s, children and young people, and photographs from the McBride's own life and family.
