Kyle Morland’s work considers spatial relationships and the geometry of objects: how things intersect, expand or contract in space. In this fragment from his studio, a metal off-cut is seen anew as a zig-zagging line. Hung on the wall, it becomes a drawing – a doodle on a scrap piece of paper, elegant in its simplicity.

Kyle Morland is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily in sculpture, photography and video. His practice centres around the manipulation of material, and experimentation with form and spatial relations. Morland realises his ideas within the context of self-imposed formal constraints – responding to challenges he sets for himself in creating the work. His sculptures, in particular, express a playful engagement with proportion, balance and dimensionality.
