Githan Coopoo is a self-taught ceramicist who creates delicate handcrafted jewellery designs. In this collection, Coopoo creates towel-like earrings that imitate a cloth fabric. The imprinted pattern textures the clay and acts as a reference to a normally mundane object. The artist's gentle use of the material creates a sense of movement in the way it falls, like a towel loosely hung on a rack.

In an interview with online magazine 10and5, Coopoo explains their choice of clay when designing jewellery: “Conventional jewellery is prized and considered precious because of the worth and value of the materials used, whereas this jewellery is also precious – not for its monetary value, but because it is delicate, and must be cared for. By using clay, I’m able to redefine why we consider jewellery to be precious to us. If ceramics are mistreated, they will break, and I think there is a beautiful lesson in that. I want my pieces to be able to remind people to be gentle; with themselves, and others”.
