This catalogue accompanied the 2006 exhibition of the same name. From the exhibition's text:

"Picasso and Africa is the most important exhibition of works by Picasso to be organised in Africa. The selection of more than 80 works was shown here for the first time alongside African art objects from private and public South African collections. The ongoing dialogue with African art is followed in this publication by accompanying essays from various sources.

Picasso and Africa was curated by Marilyn Martin, Director of Art Collections, Iziko Museums of Cape Town and Laurence Madeline of the Picasso Museum, Paris."
