Recurring motifs in Chloë’s Hugo-Hamman’s work, pathways and connecting lines weave through her practice. Such lines travel across her drawing and paintings, becoming threads in her textile works, tracing the boundaries of joined fabric, and offering reflections on finding one’s way. In Group (Psychosocial), lines merge and part, some leading off the edges of the page, others towards two black shapes at the composition’s centre. Saturated and diagrammatic, the painting offers itself to be read as both abstract and landscape; a map without a key, only a series of question marks and uncertain signs.
