From the makers:

“This project began as a way to think through the city we grew up in – a place both made through intersecting structures of history and power, one that is simultaneously undone, reimagined and challenged by the people who live here.

Film photography has allowed us the opportunity to slow the complex movements of the city, to hold in place the grand narratives that produce life alongside those subtle gestures and unexpected configurations that unsettle it. This collection of images attempts to bring together the contradictions and complications of the city, if only for a fleeting moment. What becomes clear is a relationship between labour and public life; a relationship in which space and belonging is often negotiated through chance, improvisation, and the work of the everyday. What emerges is a sketch of the city and the people who make it; an image unfixed and unfinished, one that challenges the fundamental promise of the photograph itself.”
