Recurring motifs in Chloë’s Hugo-Hamman’s work, pathways and connecting lines weave through her practice. Such lines travel across her drawing and paintings, becoming threads in her textile works, tracing the boundaries of joined fabric, and offering reflections on finding one’s way. In Swimming pool passageway, a single line notates the direction of movement through a map-like scene. Saturated and diagrammatic, the composition offers itself to be read as both abstract and landscape; as a terrain neither real nor imagined but something else besides.
