In 2019, Bonolo Kavula was an artist in residence at A4 Arts Foundation. During this residency, Kavula interrogated four conditions of Conceptual Art laid out by Colin Richards in his essay The Thought is the Thing. She performed a live stand-up comedy performance, as well as produced a zine featuring comic drawings, social commentary and print-making forms that interact with the political and historical legacy of print-making in South Africa.
Kavula offers both call and response to a group of relationships: the permanent versus the temporary, the unique versus multiples, as she explores the mediums of drawing, text and printed matter.
Love Potion and Pity Party are two postcards taken from this zine.
