The Truth is on the Walls accompanied Sue Williamson's presentation of the same name at the 10th Havana Biennale in 2009. Taking as a departure point the forced removal of Naz Gool Ebrahim from her home in District Six, Williamson made a photographic series titled The Walls of Manley Villa, part of which was exhibited for this Biennale. Of her subject, the artist wrote:
"When Naz received her final notice from a South African Group Area official that she and her family were to be forcibly removed from their home in the heart of Cape Town, she began to scrawl her agony, pent-up frustration and anger all over the walls of every room in her home. Her husband, Hari, thought she had gone mad; the writing on her walls garnered a public interest she never expected."
