From the Preface (excerpt): "Over the years, my way of seeing in color, first emerging in the tropics, has evolved through various projects, leading me not only to other parts of Latin America and Africa but also to Florida and Istanbul. I have been consistently drawn to places of cultural and often political uncertainty, such as borders, islands, and the edges of societies, where cultures meet, sometimes clashing and sometimes fusing. Some of my projects have taken years to complete, others have been briefer, and many have overlapped.
