Binding Line: Lenses on Landscape Today is a zine created by architect and artist Alex Coezee. He explains in the zine’s foreword that the project began “as an empirical investigation into the representation of space in images and the presentation of images in space”.

Coetzee’s art practice is rooted in constant interaction with the outside world. His fascination with perception, representation and spatial presence binds his two worlds of art and architecture and directly influences the work he produces.

When defining the project, Coetzee continues, “[Binding Line] draws on the direct experience of the author with the landscape of Cape Town as a means of developing innovative spatial representations”.

Binding Line was exhibited in 2017 as part of the Graduate Exhibition at the Michaelis School of Fine Art.
